More than a hundred years after starting its activities in Porto Alegre, the company relied on FERCIEN's expertise and vast technical knowledge to make this happen.
By digitizing asset management, the time taken to take inventory of stores' assets was drastically reduced: from 32 hours to 1 hour. Furthermore, this innovation did not interfere with the establishments' operations, since RFID technology allows the reading of tags via radio signals. In this sense, inventories were carried out without the need to stop operations.
When starting the process of digitizing asset management, FERCIEN carried out a series of studies and tests to define the best RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) tag, taking into account the price and the adhesive surface. The term refers to the label that has the chip to be attached to an asset. At this time, six proof of concept and pilot inventories were used to define which would be the ideal tag.
After identifying the assets, the AWF platform came into play, consisting of the AWF Asset web application, which manages collectors, users and files, in addition to the AWF Inventory Android application. The APP allows the company to control its inventories.
In total, the digitalization of the Lojas Renner's asset management had four stages:
1) POC (“proof of concept”): in the first stage, the client was informed about how the technology applied to the digitalization of the management of its assets works. In addition, performance tests were carried out on the hardware that best meets the project of the chain of stores;
2) Pilot: in this stage, the client “tasted” the service. In other words, they received a demonstration of how the digitalization of the management of their assets would work, which could be a set of goods or a specific unit, for example;
3) Rollout: this is the “hands-on” stage, the shift from traditional to innovative, the change of a culture that had been applied by the company until then. In this third stage, the assets begin to be digitalized. It comes after the pilot to avoid possible obstacles related to this transformation;
4) Post-rollout: from here on, the client is qualified to conduct the digitalization process of asset management internally. There is support from FERCIEN, but the client has full capacity to lead the process with knowledge and autonomy.
At the end of the digitalization, the culture of the importance of frequent and modern asset management is disseminated. In the case of Lojas Renner, 600 thousand tags will be made available, to be fixed in all establishments. This way, the company will be able to conduct inventories quickly, via radio frequency, without the need for additional investments. In addition, all stores that make up the group will receive autonomy in operating the AWF Inventory APP.
